June 2010 - We are excited to announce that we added a few new studs to our breeding program.
High Plains Hozay is one of them. The combination of "Hoss x Amadeus" genetics is the outstanding HOZAY.
This is a male that can add color, fineness with density, dramatic uniform crimp style and is the only Hoss son in BC.
These same "Hoss x Amadeus" genetics have proven well in the showring with many champion wins for High Plains.
We may offer offspring or females bred to Hozay, check back for details. With Supreme Champion genetics on both sides, you get it all with Hozay!
And then there is HP Rembrandt's Rolex. Rolex has an impressive resume:
super conformation, exquisite fleece, rich color background,
championship heritage. His sire is High Plains Rembrandt. Rembrandt's fleece has kept amazing fineness and was still 17 microns at 2 years and
is still under 20 at age 4. The dam HP Sarah Sota has a lot to add to the qualities of Rolex including her ability to pass on her high luster fine fleece.
Maurice Brew has what it takes and is the kind of
male alpaca owners wish they had in their own breeding program. From the first time Mau stepped into the show ring as a juvenile in 2006, he began turning
heads. His show track record couldn’t have been better; he was undefeated in his class over numerous shows and also took a number of colour championships
and a Supreme Championship at the competitive Lloydminster show under Judge Val Fullerlove of England. Senior Australian fleece judge, Cameron Holt,
was equally impressed with Maurice and awarded him a reserve colour championship at the AC National Fleece show in Halifax.
Stepping out of the limelight of the show ring and giving his show halter a bit of a rest, Maurice Brew went to work at Aztec Alpacas as
the main coloured stud. He did not disappoint there either. Maurice made a major impact on both general phenotype and fleece qualities on his progeny out of
a variety of coloured dams. Most consistently, he passes along his handsome balance and proportion, stamping a pleasing phenotype to his offspring. He has
improved the fibre coverage, fineness, density and crimp in the fleeces of his progeny. As his offspring begin to reach the age to step into the show
ring, they are also proving their fine qualities – of recent note is Mau's black son, Hugo Boss, who won the black championship at the 2010 CNASF.
To date, Maurice has sired a variety of solid coloured crias from black through browns, fawns and white, dependent on the colour of the dam.
After working hard at Aztec, Maurice has found a new herd home at Yellow Star Ranch and is set to work his magic with a new variety
of coloured females. The exciting results will be revealed in 2011.
Please see our Herdsire page for detailed information !!!
Huge success again with Yellow Star's Bandit at the Salmon Arm Fair in September 2009:
He placed 1st in his class and, on top of that, his fleece was awarded 1st place for "Fleece with best brightness".
April 2009 - We just took Yellow Star's Bandit to the Futurity in Red Deer, AB and he placed 3rd.
His fleece was also judged as "Fleece with best handle" in his class.
This is an exciting cria season at Yellow Star Ranch with the arrival of RGA Crawford's offspring.
We are very happy what he produced; nice heads, strong bones, great coverage and last but not least very nice fibre, lots of lustre, crimp and density. On top of that: lots of colour.

Crawford is a beautiful medium fawn MMR Laredo son / Jolimont Peruvian Alpamayo grandson. He also has Jolimont Peruvian Pauco on his dam's side. Another male that will begin work this summer is Aztec Yuri, a CPeruvian Zhivago son. Yuri's dam is Kali Ben, a Vaccoyo daughter and the dam of other outstanding animals such as Aztec Kalibaut and Kasper Ben.
